Over the last 12 years, sgfleet has made quite a mark in the local business landscape, and as a result, we were delighted to be invited to apply for the Outstanding Large Business of the Year award for the Annual Solihull Awards 2019!

About the Annual Solihull Awards

The Solihull Awards were created by the Solihull Chamber of Commerce to recognise local businesses for their achievements. It is, therefore, quite an honour for us to be in the running for this award.

This year, the chief financial officer at the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Helen Bates, chaired the judging panel and commented, "The judges had their work cut out, with some amazing businesses applying in each category.

There was a lot of discussion about the shortlist in each case but at the end of the process the results were remarkably consistent and the overall winner was a unanimous choice. There is clearly a lot going on in Solihull and the judges would like to congratulate all the applicants on their achievements."

The Outstanding Large Business of the Year

As part of the submission process, we had to answer three questions, which covered business growth, plans for the future, and why we thought sgfleet should win.

To answer these questions, we detailed what the company has accomplished and our contribution to society so far. This included:

  • Our consistent rapid growth
  • Our contribution to the community and local businesses
  • The recognition we have received over the years
  • Our vision and objectives
  • How our product offerings align with our beliefs and culture

Within the submission, we showcased our business development achievements, especially those within the last three years, and shared our visions for the future.

To support our answers, we elaborated on the role Fleet Hire and Motiva played in our growth and discussed how we partner with local businesses, helping them develop their business and provide more employment in the area.

We also discussed the various charities we support, including; the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Marie Curie Hospice, Birmingham Dogs Home, and Mancheck.org, as well as our partnership with Hope for Justice.

Essentially, in our submission, we highlighted how we work with communities and businesses alike to form strong ties and future working relationships.

When will the results be announced?

The awards take place on the 17th October at the Marriot Forest of Arden hotel near Meriden. The competition is high so we wish everyone shortlisted all the very best! Just keep your fingers crossed for sgfleet too!
